Bitz Excavations is a family owned and operated business, established 25 years ago by brothers Peter and Noel Bitz. Both have a lifetime of experience in the earthmoving industry, and are proud to have their sons and daughters working beside them every day, following diligently in their footsteps.

We currently have 15 full-time employees-a great, close-knit team who share the same dedication to their work as directors Peter and Noel. All our staff are well trained, friendly and happy to provide advice on your specific earthmoving and excavation needs, including domestic and commercial projects.

Based in Wollongong, with a large workshop facility, we have a comprehensive range of plant machinery and equipment available for hire. We have completed jobs all over NSW and worked on projects for major companies and councils including:

Work, Health and Safety Policy

Bitz Excavations are committed to creating a safe and healthy work environment, and are determined that all personnel will be kept free of injury or illness with safety and welfare of our personnel absolutely paramount.

This policy applies to all personnel, each of whom share the responsibility and accountability in ensuring the safety of themselves and their work mates. No job is too important that personnel can't take the time to ensure it is completed safely.

Objectives

To ensure that people who work for Bitz Excavations are able to enjoy the benefits of maintaining their health and be protected from unsafe circumstances, which could adversely influence their quality of life.

Responsibilities

The Management and our team will:

  • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations and statutory obligations
  • Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and competent to safely perform their work
  • Empower all personnel to conduct their activities in ways that prevent harm to themselves and others
  • Establish and apply a risk management system that focuses on the identification, elimination and effective control of hazards
  • Regularly maintain and review the effectiveness of the contractor safety management plan
  • Ensure effective communication between personnel so that we are all well informed of safety and health risks
  • Take disciplinary action where required to ensure personnel comply with our Contractor Safety Management Plan and our obligations to safety
  • Not interfere or tamper with systems put in place to ensure the safety of personnel

Environmental Policy

Bitz Excavations will:

  • Display visible leadership by considering environmental aspects throughout all phases of project development;
  • Comply with all relevant legislation and regulations;
  • Plan, implement, monitor & review an Environmental Management Plan;
  • Identify and control environmental hazards and impacts resulting from our operations;
  • Provide adequate resources to support environmental management plan
  • Provide training and support to enable all employees / contractors to work in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Conduct investigations into all reported incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented;
  • Regularly communicate and provide feedback to ensure high standards of environmental management.
